Choosing Control and Signal Devices components

Control and signal device replacement is mostly about matching the panel cutout, the actuator style, and the contact block configuration. A 22 mm pushbutton from one brand will fit a 22 mm hole from another, but the contact blocks and lamp modules behind it are usually brand-specific.

Specs to confirm before ordering:

Panel cutout: 22 mm (most common in IEC), 30 mm (most common in NEMA), 16 mm (miniature)
Actuator type: flush, extended, mushroom, illuminated, key-operated, twist-release E-stop, palm E-stop
Actuator color and engraving
Number and type of contact blocks: NO, NC, NC late-break (for safety circuits)
Lamp module voltage: 24 VDC, 24 VAC, 120 VAC, 240 VAC — LED or incandescent
Mounting style: front mount with rear contact blocks, or fully panel-mount
IP rating: IP65 standard, IP66/IP67 for washdown, IP69K for food
E-stop compliance: ISO 13850 for mushroom heads and twist-release behavior
Material: plastic vs. metal collar and bezel

Common gotchas: contact blocks and lamp modules are not interchangeable across brands — an Allen-Bradley 800T pushbutton uses 800T contact blocks, not Schneider XB4. Mixing brand within a single device defeats the modular advantage and usually does not work mechanically. Selector switch contacts depend on switch position; a "1 NO + 1 NC" selector has different active contacts in position 1 vs. position 2 — verify the cam diagram. Illuminated pushbuttons need both a lamp module (provides the LED or bulb) and an actuator with a transparent button; ordering the actuator alone gives a non-illuminated assembly.

Typical applications: machine start/stop pushbuttons, mode-selection rotary switches, status pilot lights on cabinet doors, emergency stops at operator stations, and reset buttons after safety events. On legacy panels, exact-OEM replacement preserves panel cutouts, contact block compatibility, and operator familiarity with engraving and color schemes.

Do you stock obsolete pushbuttons and pilot lights?

Yes. Discontinued Allen-Bradley 800T legacy codes, retired Schneider XB4 first generations, end-of-life Omron A22/A30, and earlier IDEC HW codes are sourced through our supplier network.

Will my contact blocks work with a different-brand actuator?

Generally no. Contact blocks are brand-specific even though the panel cutout is standardized. Replace the device as a coordinated set (actuator + contact block + lamp module).

22 mm vs. 30 mm — which is in my panel?

Measure the panel hole diameter. 22 mm is the IEC global standard and most common in current panels worldwide. 30 mm is older NEMA standard, still very common in North American legacy panels.

Does the E-stop meet current standards?

Modern E-stops from major brands meet ISO 13850 (mushroom head, red on yellow background, twist or pull release). Surplus units retain their OEM certification. We do not modify or re-certify devices.

What is the warranty?

12-month functional warranty on the device. Wear from extended high-cycle use is normal and not covered as a warranty event.
