Choosing Panel PCs components

Panel PC replacement is doubly constrained: the electronics must match the application, and the panel cut-out and bezel must match the existing machine. Even a small change in bezel dimensions means re-machining the panel — often more costly than the PC itself.

Specs to confirm before ordering:

  • Exact OEM part number including all option codes
  • Display size and resolution (10.1" 1024x768, 15" 1024x768, 19" 1280x1024, etc.)
  • Touchscreen type: resistive (works with gloves, requires pressure) or projected-capacitive (multi-touch, requires bare finger or PCAP gloves)
  • Panel cut-out dimensions — measured to manufacturer tolerance
  • Bezel material and color (some plants standardize on stainless steel for washdown)
  • IP rating on the front face — IP65/IP66 front is typical; IP67/IP69K for washdown
  • CPU, RAM, and storage configuration
  • Operating system and edition
  • Communication ports and any fieldbus options
  • Power input: 24 VDC standard, sometimes AC

Common gotchas: a 15-inch panel PC from one OEM is almost never cut-out-compatible with a 15-inch panel PC from another — bezels and mounting clamps differ in fractions of an inch. Within a single OEM line, generations change: an Advantech TPC-1551T does not share cut-out with a TPC-1551WP. PCAP touchscreens require bare skin or PCAP-compatible gloves; standard work gloves do not register, which surprises operators replacing a resistive HMI. Reflective bright sun on a glossy PCAP front breaks visibility — anti-glare front options matter for outdoor or window-side installations.

Typical applications: machine operator stations on packaging and converting lines, water treatment SCADA terminals, food and pharma operator stations rated for washdown, and shop-floor terminals for andon and OEE displays. Replacing the OEM panel PC in kind preserves the cut-out, mounting, and the SCADA/HMI image configuration.

For obsolete panel PCs, send the OEM part number for a sourcing quote.

Do you stock obsolete panel PCs?
Yes. Discontinued Advantech TPC, Allen-Bradley VersaView CE, Siemens SIMATIC HMI IPC 477/677, and retired Beckhoff CP6xxx are sourced regularly.
Will a replacement panel PC fit my existing cut-out?
Only if the part number matches exactly, or the OEM lists the same cut-out for the replacement model. Mixing generations within one OEM line often changes cut-out by 1–3 mm, which is enough to require panel rework.
Resistive vs. capacitive touchscreen — which should I choose?
Resistive for gloved hands, dirty environments, and where stylus use matters. Capacitive (PCAP) for multi-touch and modern HMI gestures, with bare skin or PCAP-rated gloves. Existing applications usually dictate the type — switching types changes operator workflow.
Will my SCADA or HMI runtime move to a replacement?
If the OS, edition, and CPU architecture match, the runtime is usually re-deployable. Licensing for FactoryTalk View SE, WinCC RT, and similar typically requires reactivation tied to the new hardware.
What is the IP rating on these?
Front face IP65 or IP66 is standard. Rear-side IP20 is typical and assumes panel-mount installation. Washdown environments need IP67 or IP69K front; we will state the rating on each listing.
What is the warranty?
12 months functional. Touchscreen damage from sharp impact, chemical attack, or improper cleaning agents is not covered.
