Choosing Pipes and Elevated Mounting components

Elevated mounting systems must be specified as a coordinated assembly — base plate, stand pipe diameter, sensor bracket, and any intermediate swivel or adapter all need to fit together. Mixing components from different manufacturers without verifying thread and diameter compatibility leads to ill-fitting installations.

Specifications to confirm before ordering:

  • Stand-pipe diameter (1 inch and 1.5 inch are common, but check OEM matching)
  • Required height above mounting surface
  • Sensor housing dimensions and bracket interface
  • Mounting surface (table, floor, conveyor frame)
  • Material — 304 or 316L stainless steel for washdown
  • Sanitary design requirements (3-A, smooth surfaces, no crevices)
  • Load and vibration expected
  • Swivel or fixed mounting style

Common assembly types:

  • Floor-mounted stand: weighted base, stand pipe, swivel sensor bracket — for height-adjustable conveyor sensors
  • Table-mounted post: small base plate, short pipe, fixed bracket — for inspection stations
  • Conveyor-frame mount: clamp-on adapter, short pipe, sensor bracket — for mounting alongside existing equipment
  • Sanitary food/dairy mount: 316L stainless with smooth radiused base, sealed joints, and tool-free disassembly for cleaning

For replacement of an OEM assembly, send a photo showing the full mounting tree from the base to the sensor — that's often the only way to verify all the threaded interfaces and bracket geometry match.

Can you supply Banner Engineering or SICK stand-pipe assemblies?
Yes — Banner SMB and SICK stand-mount accessories are common requests, along with similar items from Pepperl+Fuchs and Hardy. Send the part number or a photo of the existing assembly.
What's the difference between 1-inch and 1.5-inch stand pipes?
Pipe diameter affects rigidity and the size of the sensor bracket it supports. 1-inch is suitable for compact sensors and short heights. 1.5-inch handles heavier sensors and longer pipe lengths without flex. Some OEM brackets are sized for one diameter and won't clamp the other.
Are these parts dishwasher- or washdown-safe?
Stainless steel components (304 and 316L) handle washdown environments. 316L is preferred for chemical wash and dairy. Aluminum or plain steel components corrode in wet environments and should be limited to dry indoor applications.
Are mounting components sold individually or as complete assemblies?
Both. Individual components (base, pipe, bracket, swivel) are stocked separately for repairs and custom builds. Some manufacturers also offer complete pre-assembled kits sized to specific sensor families. The product page shows what's included.
What's the warranty?
Mounting hardware ships with our 12-month functional warranty. Because these are mechanical parts, functional failure is rare — damaged-on-arrival or specification-mismatch returns are handled under our 30-day return policy.
