The Pepperl+Fuchs UC2000-L2-I-V15 ultrasonic sensor is a high-performance sensing solution engineered for industrial automation, material handling, and object detection applications. Utilizing ultrasonic technology, it provides precise and non-contact measurement of distances, making it ideal for environments where optical sensors may be limited by dust, light, or reflective surfaces.

This sensor features a sensing range of 60 mm to 2000 mm, giving it the flexibility to detect both nearby and distant objects with accuracy. Its adjustment range of 80 mm to 2000 mm allows users to fine-tune detection thresholds according to specific application needs. With a short dead band of 0–60 mm, the sensor minimizes blind zones and enables reliable detection even close to the sensor face. A standard target plate measuring 100 mm × 100 mm is used for calibration and performance verification.

At the core of its operation is a transducer frequency of approximately 175 kHz, which ensures stable and repeatable measurements across the full range. This high frequency also contributes to excellent immunity against ambient noise and external interference, making the UC2000-L2-I-V15 suitable for challenging industrial environments. Additionally, the time delay before availability of ≤ 1600 ms means the sensor is quickly ready for operation after power-on, minimizing downtime during system startup.

The ultrasonic sensing principle provides a significant advantage over optical sensors in cases where transparency, surface texture, or color variations can cause unreliable detection. By relying on sound waves instead of light, the UC2000-L2-I-V15 can measure distances to a wide range of targets regardless of surface characteristics. This makes it an excellent choice for applications such as level detection in tanks and silos, presence monitoring on conveyor systems, collision avoidance in automated vehicles, and material positioning in assembly lines.

Pepperl+Fuchs has designed this sensor to be both robust and versatile, ensuring reliable performance even under harsh industrial conditions. Its compact design and flexible adjustment capabilities allow easy integration into new and existing systems. With its combination of wide sensing range, fast availability, high frequency operation, and minimal dead band, the UC2000-L2-I-V15 delivers a dependable solution for precise detection and distance measurement tasks.
